Early Intervention

Early Intervention-Disability Management: 

A Rehabilitation Assessment is conducted as soon as possible following an injury. The case manager works with the medical provider to determine restrictions/physical capabilities and communicates with the employer to identify modified/transitional duty return-to-work opportunities. Communication with employer, medical provider and injured worker assists in returning the injured worker back to work more quickly, even while recovery continues.

Early Intervention Telephonic:

Telephone case management between employer, medical provider(s), and injured worker can establish time frames for recovery, rehabilitation and return-to-work. This service also acts to identify potential long-term, problematic claims for utilization of field case management services—medical or vocational.

Vocational Rehabilitation

Vocational Evaluation and Vocational Planning:

The client’s vocational options are explored by assessing their work history, skills, education, training and interests and a vocational plan of mutual agreement is established.

Job Placement Services:

The injured worker is assisted in locating job openings and interviews via vocational counseling and locating actual job openings. Resume preparation and cover letters are developed as necessary.

Job Seeking Skills Training:

The injured worker is instructed on completing job applications, interview readiness, responding to tough interview questions such as those relating to their disability, following up on applications and resumes, and how to locate unadvertised job openings through networking and direct employer contacts.

Retraining Coordination:

Case manager assists the injured worker in choosing an appropriate training program, completing the application and enrollment process, securing financial aid and coordinating VESID application, if appropriate. On-the-Job Training can also be coordinated by contacting local employers and educating them regarding specific incentives available for OJTs.

Transitional Employment:

The case manager assists to place the injured worker in a temporary occupation to help them learn new job skills, obtain current work references, and re-familiarize them with a work routine, thereby increasing their self-confidence and aiding in a permanent return to the work force.

Employer Services

Ergonomic Assessment:

Evaluation of an employee’s work environment and workstation is conducted with respect to involvement of injury occurrence and/or medical condition(s) for recommendations for modifications, accommodations and/or adaptations.

On-Site Job Analysis:

Evaluate and document an employee’s job at the employer’s site, including essential and marginal job duties. Provide a narrative job description and document functional job demands. Recommendations for modifications and accommodations can be included for present and future lost-time injury claims. Videotaped job analyses can also be provided.

Lost Time Claim Analysis:

Disability Management Consultant will review lost time claims to determine potential for greater activity/claims management with a goal of claim resolution and reduction of premiums.

Modified Duty Program Development:

Disability Management Consultant will work with employer to identify opportunities for modified duty assignments and assist in establishing a personalized modified duty program with a goal of virtually eliminating lost-time, and allowing for premium discount under the NYS W/C Reform Act of 2007.

Medical Case Management

A Certified Case Manager/RN conducts on-site, face-to-face meetings with the injured worker, the employer and the medical provider to assist the injured worker through the maze of medical treatment, assure appropriate, cost-effective medical care, and timely return to work.

Forensic

Expert Witness Testimony:

Provide expert vocational testimony on employability, wage potential, job availability, education/training potential, SSDI eligibility, and other vocational issues for third party, total industrial disability claims and removal from labor market cases.

Transferable Skills Analysis (TSA):

A review of the injured worker’s aptitude, education, training and work history is conducted and utilized in conjunction with their limitations/physical capabilities to identify potential occupations for employability conclusions. Usually used in conjunction with LMS, below.

Labor Market Survey (LMS):

Employers within the injured worker’s geographic locale are contacted to deternine current and potential job availability, salary and requirements for positions. Can accompany TSA.
